In a press release,Valve announced Counter Strike: Global Offensive, their latest iteration of the hit Counter Strike franchise, which will feature new maps, "characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more."
CS: GO is targeted for an early 2012 release via Steam (for PC and Mac), Playstation Network and Xbox LIVE. In fact, Valve has already placed a product listing on Steam for the game.
The game is currently being developed by Valve in cooperation with Seattle-based Hidden Path Entertainment, and will be playable at PAX Prime and Eurogamer Expo.
Pretty interesting move from Valve. Considering that a lot of FPS are out right now, I wonder what CS: GO will bring to the table.
