Earlier News: Officials at Microsoft has announced that Xbox 360 Slim models will get a new chip which will allow for better power efficiency and heat management by integrating various components into a single chip. Can this be the final nail in the coffin for the dreaded RROD?

Future Microsoft Xbox 360 250GB slim consoles will be getting a new System-on-Chip which will integrate  CPU, GPU, memory and I/O logic into a single chip. This would essentially bring better power efficiency, and lower manufacturing costs thanks to fewer chips. This will also allow for better heat management, and smaller sized motherboards. The chip took five years in development and was reported to have fewer transistors than modern GPU's and processors. Purchasers of the new units need not fear about incompatibility issues since the said chip will impersonate the performance of older systems.
