Last Saturday, a delivery truck traveling through Créteil, south Paris, France containing an estimated 6,000 copies of Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (worth €400,000) was seized after crashing into a car. 2 masked individuals emerged from the offending car and threw tear gas to neutralize the truck's driver and passengers. Once the truck was secured, the thieves jumped on the truck and ran off with all copies of the game.
Later, another delivery truck traveling in Mantes-la-Jolie was forced to stop in the middle of a road by a vehicle blocking its path. Three hooded individuals threatened the drivers with weapons and stole the truck full of €380,000 worth of Modern Warfare 3 copies.
Both trucks has a combined worth of €780,000 of copies which is over $1 million.
Wow, just wow. I'm guessing these thieves will likely be selling the games at a discounted price to a retailer, a black market or simply on the street. The money they will make on the game is certainly a profit and buyers of the game win too, since they’re not counterfeit copies, they’re legit.
