Rumor: Ubisoft Next to Implement an Online Pass System

If it makes money, then why not? Publishers nowadays seem really hell-bent on squeezing the last bit of cash from the games they publish, and the online pass seems to be working well for them considering Sony has recently jumped into the bandwagon. Now, Gamerzines reports that Ubisoft maybe next to jump into the bandwagon with U-Play Passport, with Driver: San Francisco the first game in their house to carry the system.

The concept is the same, wherein online multiplayer is restricted to those who have purchased a new copy of Driver: San Francisco, or those who have purchased the U-Play Passport from PSN and Xbox Live. No price was reported yet as to how much the pass will cost if it is to be purchased separately.

If the reports are true, then it is highly likely that we might expect future Ubisoft releases to carry the pass, such as Assassin's Creed: Revelations and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. However, AC: Revelation's lead game designer Alexandre Breault told Gamerzines that "he was not aware of it" and denied any knowledge of the initiative.
