"The Templar's Curse... the one who bears it will end up in Hell when they fade from the mortal coil. The Templars have borne the curse through the generations, passing it down to their sons.. To all others, it would seem only that their opponent is faster, stronger, and more capable...
Those who activate the curse are the only ones who see the world turn to Hell.
Now rise and wield it, Unleash hell to all who dare seek death."
Check out the trailers first before I break down the preview.
I know what you're thinking..is it Demon Soul-ish? Nahhh... here's more.
The Cursed Crusade is a medieval third-person action-adventure game that is being developed by Kylotonn Games (Iron Storm, Speedball 2 Tournament). Atlus will publish the game for North America and dtp entertainment AG for Europe. Europe will have the first release on August 26, 2011 followed by North America release on October 11, 2011. Platforms: PS3, XBOX 360 and PC.
Now, a little good news to all of you who are interested in getting the game. The retail price will be $39.99 instead of the usual mark of $59.99. It's Pretty good deal if you ask me. What's up with the low price? well one thing's for sure... It's one of those Atlus pricing habit and I can't complain about it since they have not let me down.
STORY: It's pretty basic at the moment. You join a crusade to take back the holy land. You play as Denz de Bayle. Denz is a cursed Templar who is looking for a way to break the curse, so he and his partner thief/mercenary that goes by the name of Esteban Noviembre set out on a dangerous quest. Although you seek to be free of the curse, It can actually prove to be quite useful in your journey. Expect to have twist and turns as the story progresses.
GAMEPLAY: As the title states, You are cursed. Now, use that curse!. Activating the Templar's Curse puts the power of Hell at your disposal. Your speed and power increase dramatically, as well as granting new abilities, but you must use it wisely because your life decreases while your curse is activated. Another thing that is cool while you are on your curse mode is that the environment also changes. It becomes more like hell with all the fires and creepy stuff lurking in the shadows. The combat is a bit similar to Assassin's Creed Mechanics. You just cant hack your way through without a little strategy and timing. You also need to keep an eye out to your surroundings and foes because your environment will determine your advantage and disadvantages in combat. Weapons ranges from swords, spears, axes, great swords, maces, bow and arrows. You also need to be mindful of what kind of enemy you are going against as the weapons vary its uses to different types of enemy. You are given freedom to the customization and configuration of your weapons. If you love dual-wield then it's possible. Combining different types of weapons will result in different combination and skill possibilities, so you’ll definitely want to experiment and create the style that suits you better in combat.
The game will support Coop play for both online and local. Your friend will be able to control Esteban the thief.
There will be over 40 missions, 90 possible attack combinations, and over 130 weapons. Pretty Sweet eh?
GRAPHICS AND SOUNDS: I'll let you judge it according to the trailers. My Opinion? Both are good. Nuff said.
That's it for now. I'll be updating this post whenever there's new updates regarding the game. The Cursed Crusade has potential so expect more from this game. I know I am ;). Happy Gaming!
