PSN users, the time you've been waiting for has come! Today, the PS Store is has updated its content with the Welcome Back program, bringing PSN users free content up for download, including 2 free games each on the PS3 and the PSP, and free 30 day subscription to the PlayStation Plus as free gift from Sony due to the PSN fiasco. Have you downloaded yours already?
As part of the restoration of PSN, Sony has launched the Welcome Back program to encourage PSN users to reintegrate into the community after the PSN hacking attacks. Packages differ depending on each region. (See my earlier posts: Asia Package, North America Package). Sony has offered a comprehensive FAQ to guide you when downloading your free games.
To download your games, go to PS Store and select "Welcome Back". For Asia however, (I accessed Singapore store), there's no "Welcome Back" selection in the menu, but instead select the "Welcome Back" banner image at the right. You must first download the "Welcome Back" ticket, then once you've downloaded that, you can download a game from the Welcome Back selection.
The Welcome Back package actually applies to all your registered accounts! I have multiple accounts, so I tried activating the package for each of my accounts, and found out that it's also possible to own all the games from the selection. Don't try to cheat by registering a new account though, the program only applies to accounts registered before April 20, 2011. Also, be sure to download your free games before July 3.
I've already started downloading the free games. At first you might encounter some error messages, but don't worry about it, its just the huge surge of downloads from the users. So what will you be downloading from the program? Share your thoughts!
