News: Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Confirmed

We've heard rumors last week that a budget re-release of the acclaimed 2D fighter Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will be announced at Comic Con this week. Just earlier today, Capcom confirmed the rumors and officially announced Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3! Confirmed new characters and details coming up!

Capcom has officially announced Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 to be in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and will be hitting store shelves later this November at a low price of $39.99. The revamped game will feature 12 more characters, increasing the total number of characters to 50. Initially confirmed characters to be in the list are Strider Hiryu (Capcom), Ghost Rider (Marvel), Hawkeye (Marvel) and Firebrand (Capcom, Ghosts 'n Goblins), and announcement of other characters will soon follow.

New features will include Spectator Mode which allows fighters to watch live online matches together, and enhancements for balancing and online gameplay. It seems that there are a few changes with the moves as well. Check out the trailer below:

I'm pretty much excited about this game. Can't wait for who will make the final roster? Don't go just yet! According to Destructoid, they have the leaked images of the final characters! See someone you fancy on the image below?

Capcom (Left to Wright, Pun Intended)
  • Vergil
  • Frank West
  • Nemesis
  • Phoenix Wright
Marvel (Left to Right)
  • Iron Fist
  • Doc Strange
  • Nova
  • Rocket Raccoon
Looks like we won't be seeing Cyclops, Cable, as well as Megaman on the list, but seeing Dante's brother Vergil and Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright in the list psyches me out. Wonder how P. Wright will play.Do I have to shout objection to do a Hyper Combo?

Looks like Capcom has a knack for releasing seemingly complete games, then releasing a more complete version later on at lower price. That's gotta annoy a lot of fans, but I'm excited about this especially since I haven't picked up a copy of MvC 3, but a really big note to self: Wait a few months before purchasing any Capcom Games, especially fighting games. Yes, I'm looking at you SFxT.
