I finished Crysis 2's single player campaign just a while ago and thought that this game is quite amazing in terms of graphics. I then thought that it would be pretty cool if I could play this in full 3D, since this game had an option to be played in 3D on a 3DTV set. I just wish I had one of those expensive 3D sets. So, bored as I was, I tried pretending that our TV was a 3D TV, and lo and behold, I just found out a way (a stupid way) to play this game in 3D! How? Just follow these steps:
What you need:
1. An HDTV, with HDMI input.
2. An Xbox 360 connected via HDMI cable. (HDMI 1.3 cables will work)
3. Crysis 2 Game
How to do this:
1. Go to the options menu and select "3D Options".
2. Just press A when the health warning appears, then turn on the 3D option.
3. Two side-by-side rendering of the game will appear on your screen. This is called the "Side-by-side" format used by some 3D TV's.
4. Set Flip Eyes option to "Yes".
(Warning: The next step will probably hurt your eyes.)
4. Slowly cross your eyes and merge the two images into one 3D image and voila - Crysis 2 in 3D! You can practice using the youtube video below. (Using the 3D option on the player, enable swap right-left to properly see the video):
If you got it right, you'll instantly notice the 3D depth effect. The HUD and the subtitles appear to float, and are much closer relative to the other images. In the environments, objects closer to you will appear closer, and vice-versa. Downside to this is that the images you will see are not rendered in their native resolution, since this is a feature intended to be viewed via 3D TV's, and well, it will ruin your eyes.
So if you're like me who doesn't have a 3D TV, this would probably be the closest thing you have in playing Crysis 2 in 3D. (Cries) But again, it will probably just ruin your eyes. (Cries again).
